Dashed white longitudinal road marking that may be crossed.

Definition

A broken line is a white longitudinal road marking made of dashes separated by gaps. It may be crossed to overtake, change lanes or change direction, provided safety conditions allow it.

  • May be crossed to overtake or change lanes if safe.
  • The shorter the dashes, the closer the change to a solid line.
  • If paired with a solid line, only cross the one closest to your vehicle.
