Definition
A bus lane is reserved for bus traffic — urban or interurban. Some cities combine it with taxis (BUS-TAXI lane) or high-occupancy vehicles (HOV-BUS). Marked with «BUS» on the pavement and a vertical sign.
Key facts
- Only vehicles authorised by the sign may use it: buses, taxis or HOV depending on the case.
- Other vehicles may enter only to turn right or exit, not to drive in it.
- BUS-TAXI also allows taxis; HOV lanes require a minimum occupancy of 2 or more.
