What is the psychotechnical test?
The psychotechnical test is a mandatory medical-psychological evaluation to obtain or renew any Spanish driving license. It is carried out at a DGT-authorised driver examination centre and certifies that you are physically, mentally and perceptually fit to drive.
Tests included
Visual exam
Acuity, visual field, contrast sensitivity and night vision.
Medical check
Blood pressure, history, medication and general check.
Psychotechnical tests
Hand-eye coordination, sustained attention and reaction time.
Hearing
Basic audiometry to rule out relevant hearing loss.

How to pass first time
- Sleep well the night before: the test measures reflexes and attention.
- If you wear glasses or contacts, bring them — don't forget.
- Avoid alcohol and drugs for at least 24 hours.
- Bring valid ID or passport.
- No studying needed: the test isn't prepared, just arrive in good shape.
