DGT exam results: how to check your theory and practical score

You check a DGT exam result at the DGT online office (sede electrónica) or in the miDGT app, using your personal data (DNI or NIE and date of birth), the date of the exam and the licence class you sat. Theory exams taken on a computer are published the same afternoon from 17:00; practical exams and paper theory tests, the following day from 17:00. Results stay published for 15 days and the lookup is free.

When DGT exam results are published

The DGT publishes results in batches, not the moment your test ends. For theory exams taken on a computer — the usual format at exam centres — the procedure page at the DGT online office states that results are available the same afternoon as the exam, from 17:00. For the on-road practical exam and for theory tests sat on paper, that moves to the day after the exam, again from 17:00.

The same timing appears on "Consulta tu nota de examen" on dgt.es, which adds that results stay published for 15 days. So there is an hour before which looking is pointless, and a two-week window after which the result is no longer in the lookup service.

Those two facts explain almost every lookup that "doesn't work". If you left the exam mid-morning and by lunchtime the system returns nothing, it most likely has not been published yet. And if three weeks have passed and the result no longer shows, that is not a fault either: the 15-day window has simply closed.

What you need to look your result up

The online office describes the service as available to anyone who has taken a theory or practical test in the last 15 days, and lists the data needed to find it:

  • Your personal data: DNI or NIE and date of birth.
  • The date of the exam you sat.
  • The licence class you were examined for (B, A2, C, AM…).

With those details the system identifies your test. The DNI alone is not enough: the search also needs the date and the category, which is exactly what fails when someone tries to look their score up "with the DNI" and gets nothing back. If you cannot remember the exact date, it is on your sitting receipt and your driving school can confirm it. The DGT also lists the procedure as free, so any site charging you to show an official grade is not the DGT.

The DGT offers three routes to the same information. None is faster than the others: all of them depend on the result already being published.

On miDGT, the DGT announced in a press release that the theory exam grade can be checked in the app shortly after the test. We cite it as what it is — a dated announcement; the timings that apply today are the ones on the two official procedure pages.

If your result does not appear

Before assuming something is wrong, rule out the obvious: that 17:00 has passed on the day that applies to your type of test, that no more than 15 days have gone by since the exam, and that the date and licence class you are entering are exactly the ones from your sitting. A typo in the date, or picking "B" when you sat "A2", returns the same emptiness as a result that does not exist.

If everything matches and the result still does not show, the official instruction is direct: go to your driving school and report the incident so they can notify the DGT and resolve it. The complaint route runs through the centre that managed your sitting, not through an online form. If you sat the exam independently and have no driving school behind you, the in-person channel the DGT lists for this service is the provincial traffic office.

How do I check my DGT exam result with my DNI?
On the DGT online office's exam-results service you identify yourself with your personal data — DNI or NIE and date of birth — plus the date of the exam and the licence class you sat. No digital certificate is needed for this particular lookup. The DNI alone is not enough: without the exam date and the licence category the system cannot find your test.
How long do theory exam results take?
If you sat the theory exam on a computer, the DGT publishes the result the same afternoon, from 17:00. If you sat it on paper, the result is published the following day, also from 17:00. Before that time there is nothing to look up, however early in the morning you took the test.
How many days do results stay published?
Fifteen. The DGT states that results remain published for 15 days and that the service is available to anyone who has taken a theory or practical test in the last 15 days. After that the result stops appearing in the lookup service — that is the official availability window, not a fault.
How do I check a practical exam result?
Through the same service and with the same data, but with one more day of waiting: practical exam results are published the day after the exam, from 17:00. In the practical exam the examiner also tells you the outcome when the test ends, so the lookup usually works as confirmation.
Can I check my result if I sat the exam without a driving school?
Yes. The results service is available to anyone who took a test in the last 15 days, whether they sat it independently or through a driving school. The difference shows up if something goes wrong: the route the DGT gives for incidents is your driving school, so without one the remaining in-person channel is the provincial traffic office (Jefatura Provincial de Tráfico).
Can I see the theory result in the miDGT app?
Yes. The miDGT app is one of the channels the DGT lists for checking your result, alongside the online lookup with your personal data and asking in person at your driving school or the provincial traffic office. A DGT press release announced that the theory exam grade can be seen in miDGT shortly after the test.
What if my result does not appear?
First check that 17:00 has passed on the day that applies to your type of test, that no more than 15 days have gone by since the exam, and that the date and licence class you are entering are the ones from your sitting. If everything matches and it still does not show, the DGT's instruction is to go to your driving school and report the incident so they can notify the DGT and get it resolved.
Does checking the result cost anything?
No. The DGT lists the exam-results lookup as a free procedure, both in the online office and in the miDGT app. Any website charging you to show an official grade is not the DGT.
