Definition
A travesía is the section of an interurban road that passes through a town's built-up area. Even though it is still a road, urban traffic rules apply: lower speed limits, frequent overtaking bans, and pedestrian priority at marked crossings.
Key facts
- Default speed limit: 50 km/h (30 km/h on single-lane streets).
- Marked with a «Travesía» sign or the town entry sign.
- Horn use, speed and overtaking are more restricted than on interurban roads.
