Correct answer
Apply direct pressure to the wound.
Apply firm direct pressure to the wound with a dressing or clean material, protecting yourself from blood contact and following 112. Covering without pressure is insufficient. For life-threatening limb bleeding not controlled by direct pressure, use a suitable tourniquet according to your training and emergency instructions; do not loosen it yourself. It is not always applied, and severe bleeding should not be assumed to stop with hand pressure alone.
