Correct answer
Stationary on a level surface.
It must be stationary on level ground. A slope tilting the vehicle can distort the dipstick reading. Being at the top or bottom of a road does not matter if the actual parking surface is level: location altitude must not be confused with vehicle tilt. Follow the manufacturer’s procedure for stopping the engine, checking temperature and waiting before measurement. Observe MIN and MAX marks and use the specified oil without exceeding maximum.
