BDifficulty 2/5

On an urban road there are two marked lanes in the cyclist’s direction. If safe, may the cyclist overtake a car on the right?

Correct answer

Yes, provided that there is no danger to other users.

Yes. Article 82.3 allows right-side overtaking within a built-up area with at least two marked lanes in the same direction if safe. This exception does not require the car to be stationary or traffic to be queued. Different lane progress in a queue may be treated differently from overtaking, but does not replace these conditions.
