The clutch disc. The pressure mechanism clamps it against the flywheel, allowing rotation to reach the gearbox input. Disengaging the clutch interrupts that transmission. The gearbox and final-drive/differential assembly have other functions and are not the part pressed against the flywheel. Drive reaching the wheels also requires a selected gear and a functioning drivetrain: an engaged clutch alone does not drive the wheels when the gearbox is in neutral.
