The thermostat. If it remains open when radiator flow should be restricted, warm-up may be delayed. Insufficient temperature may impair efficiency and increase fuel use. This is a possible cause requiring diagnosis; not every delay proves a thermostat fault, and lorries do not all use petrol or the same exhaust-treatment system.
