BDifficulty 2/5

In especially serious circumstances, with no other means available, a non-priority vehicle carries out an emergency service and warns others using the prescribed signals. What must other drivers do?

Correct answer

will facilitate its passage, stopping if necessary.

Facilitate passage as circumstances require, normally moving right and stopping if necessary and safe, under Articles 69 and 70. The non-priority driver must still obey traffic rules, especially at junctions: warning of urgency does not turn the vehicle into a priority vehicle or permit passing a red light. Article 70 provides for intermittent horn use and hazard lights, if available, or a waved handkerchief or similar method. Officers may require justification of the emergency.
