Royal Decree 920/2017 assigns station authorisation to the competent body of the autonomous community where the station is located, not to the Directorate-General for Traffic. A workshop maintenance check, even at an official dealer, does not replace the statutory periodic inspection. A driver cannot perform and certify it themselves.
