BDifficulty 2/5

On a road outside a built-up area with one lane each way, how must a car use the lanes when safely overtaking an animal?

Correct answer

Occupy part or all of the adjacent or opposing lane safely.

Occupy part or all of the adjacent or opposing lane and leave at least 1.5 metres clearance, meeting safety conditions. With more than one lane per direction, a complete lane change is required. Outside built-up areas, Article 85.4 also requires reducing speed to at least 20 km/h below the road limit before and throughout the overtake. Do not endanger or obstruct oncoming users, including those on the shoulder.
