The passenger must use the seat behind the rider, sit astride and keep their feet on the footrests. They must wear a helmet meeting the applicable requirements: the first transitional provision of RD 518/2026 allows certified moped helmets to continue being used for one year from 1 October 2026. They may not sit between the handlebars and rider or travel in the trailer. All other passenger and towing requirements apply.
