Not for that reason alone, although using it improves visibility. Article 104 requires daytime dipped beam on motorcycles and on all vehicles using reversible, additional or contraflow lanes. This question excludes those cases. Night-time, tunnels and insufficient visibility trigger the corresponding lighting duties. Respect the manufacturer’s intended lighting operation; a daytime running light does not replace dipped beam when dipped beam is compulsory.
