Combinations over 10 m in total length. The requirement also applies to vehicles over 3,500 kg maximum authorised mass and individual vehicles over 10 m. It enables following vehicles to overtake safely and is additional to the gap needed to avoid a rear-end collision. Article 54.3 provides exceptions, excluded here.
