Correct answer
In the right-hand lane.
Use the right-hand lane. Other lanes in the same direction may be used when traffic or road conditions make it advisable, without obstructing a faster vehicle behind, under Article 31. The question concerns roads outside built-up areas; marked urban lanes have different rules. The shoulder is not the ordinary motorcycle traffic lane, although emergency exceptions exist. Article 36.3 also permits extraordinary motorcycle use of the right shoulder on authorised, signed sections: only when traffic lanes are stopped by congestion, at no more than 30 km/h and in single file. Take particular care, do not endanger users required to use the shoulder, and leave it if necessary. A queue alone is insufficient.
