On roads outside built-up areas, when intending to overtake pedestrians, animals, two-wheeled vehicles or animal-drawn vehicles, the manoeuvre must be carried out by occupying part or all of the adjacent lane of the carriageway and leaving a lateral gap of at least 1.5 metres from the vehicle being overtaken.
