Neither of them must replace the main-beam headlights.
When two vehicles meet on a bend with their main-beam headlights on, the first to switch to dipped headlights must be the one travelling on the inside of the bend (the one that leaves it on the right), because its beam may sweep across the road and dazzle the vehicle approaching from the opposite direction.
