BDifficulty 3/5

With no lower specific limit, what is a bicycle’s general maximum speed on a paved road outside a built-up area?

Correct answer

45 km/h, except on sections of road where it is possible to travel at a higher speed.

45 km/h. Article 48 allows bicycle riders to exceed that speed on sections whose conditions permit a higher speed, subject to specific limits and safety. The exception does not extend to mopeds or light quadricycles or equally to all cycles. The maximum on unpaved roads is 30 km/h.
