BDifficulty 1/5

You drive a car at 80 km/h outside a built-up area on a carriageway with several lanes in your direction. No signs require another lane and conditions allow keeping right. Which lane should you normally use?

Correct answer

In the right-hand lane, and I will use the other lanes when appropriate according to traffic conditions.

The rightmost lane. Under article 31, other lanes in your direction may be used when traffic or road conditions justify it, without obstructing a following vehicle. Travelling at 80 km/h does not permit arbitrary lane choice or make the middle lane the normal one. Always observe signs, limits and safety conditions.
