BDifficulty 3/5

You drive a passenger car on a two-way carriageway with three lanes separated by broken longitudinal lines. With no signs requiring otherwise, where must you position it to turn left if safe?

Correct answer

In the centre lane, provided it is free.

In the central lane, checking that it is clear and signalling in advance. Articles 30 and 75 permit its use for necessary overtaking and left turns in this lane arrangement. Do not travel in the leftmost lane and give way to vehicles whose path you must cross. Having three lanes alone is insufficient: markings and signs matter.
