BDifficulty 1/5

A passenger car leaves a petrol station to join a public road. With no officer directing otherwise, when must it give way to vehicles travelling on that road?

Correct answer

Whenever it joins, whether from the right or from the left.

When joining, whether from the right or the left. Article 72 includes joining from service areas and adjacent properties. Check that the manoeuvre is safe, signal and give way taking account of others’ position, course and speed. The give-way-to-the-right rule does not give priority when leaving the petrol station.
