CDifficulty 3/5

A six-metre lorry used exclusively for goods transport carries indivisible-length tubes, complying with stowage and securing requirements. Under the ordinary regime of Article 15(2)(a), how far may they project at most at the front and rear, respectively?

Correct answer

Two metres at the front and three metres at the rear.

Two metres at the front and three at the rear, because the vehicle is longer than five metres and carries an indivisible-length load. Those figures alone do not authorise every transport operation: the applicable stowage, securing, projecting-end protection and marking requirements must also be met. Rear projection is marked with V-20 under Article 15(6); the specified lights also apply at night or in reduced visibility. For vehicles five metres long or shorter, the longitudinal limit is one third of their length at each end.
