Urban roads accounted for 65% of the 320 pedestrian deaths in 2024, compared with 35% on interurban roads. This compares deaths in that year, rather than all crash counts or risk per kilometre travelled. Motorways and autovías were not the category with the highest percentage. These figures should not be confused with rear-end collisions that do not involve pedestrians.

Any public road outside a built-up area. Its opposite is the urban road, which runs inside a built-up area except for through-roads.
