The technical inspection card, or ITV record. It identifies the vehicle’s characteristics and recorded inspections; the registration certificate must also be checked. Evidence of compulsory insurance is a prerequisite for inspection and may be verified through the prescribed procedures, rather than always requiring a paper receipt. Do not confuse these records with proof of municipal vehicle-tax payment. Identification or representation requirements for the person presenting the vehicle do not mean the owner’s Spanish DNI must always be supplied.
