An adult has held an A motorcycle licence for over two years and has just obtained B. Driving a private car outside special-limit cases, what is the maximum breath-alcohol level?

Correct answer

0.25 milligrams per litre of breath.

0.25 mg per litre of breath, under Article 20. The A licence’s age counts: subsequently obtaining B does not restart the two-year reduced-limit period. Do not confuse this with a limited licence whose age counts only for vehicles it authorises. The figure 0.50 refers to grams per litre of blood, not milligrams per litre of breath; 0.15 mg/l applies to novice drivers and other special cases. Being within the limit does not guarantee safe driving: the safe choice is no alcohol.
