On insufficiently lit roads. Above 40 km/h it must be used if fitted, unless dipped beam is required to prevent dazzling. At 40 km/h or less, dipped beam may be used instead. The 40 km/h threshold is not a maximum speed for switching on main beam. Do not use main beam while stopped or parked.
