Yes. A1 may be obtained from age 16 without demonstrating previous moped-riding experience. It covers motorcycles up to 125 cm³, 11 kW and a power-to-weight ratio up to 0.1 kW/kg, as well as motor tricycles up to 15 kW. Age alone is insufficient: the applicant must meet the requirements and pass the relevant tests. It does not authorise A2- or A-category motorcycles at age 16.
