Contradicting a vertical sign is not a function of road markings. They regulate, warn or guide and can delimit lanes and excluded areas or reinforce and clarify other indications. If two applicable signals appear contradictory, apply Article 133: a vertical sign takes precedence over a road marking. If compatible, obey both.
