Front fog lights may be used when visibility is significantly reduced and also on carriageways no wider than 6.50 m with many closely spaced signposted bends. Rear fog lights are reserved for especially adverse conditions such as thick fog or very heavy rain. Front fog lights are not always mandatory: Article 106 provides lighting alternatives.
