A1Difficulty 3/5

On a motorcycle, when you may legally proceed over a painted pedestrian crossing and must cross its surface in a straight line, how do you reduce the risk of losing grip?

Correct answer

At a moderate speed and keeping the motorcycle upright

Reduce speed in advance and cross at a suitable speed, keeping the motorcycle as upright as possible without abrupt braking, throttle or steering inputs. Paint may provide less grip, especially when wet; this technique reduces risk but does not guarantee grip. Obey signals and pedestrian priority, stopping when required. Do not make a dangerous change of course to seek a particular angle to the stripes.
