A2Difficulty 3/5

A motorcycle has a four-stroke petrol engine with separate lubrication. Which mixture normally burns in its cylinders?

Correct answer

With petrol and air

Petrol and air. The engine does need oil to lubricate its parts, but in this arrangement oil stays in its lubrication circuit and is not normally added to petrol as premix. Follow the manufacturer’s oil level, specification and intervals. Four strokes does not mean no lubrication.
