Correct answer
12 tonnes.
The current table in Annex IX of the General Vehicle Regulations sets a 12-tonne maximum permitted mass on a single driven axle of a lorry. The former general limit of 11.5 tonnes was raised to 12 tonnes with effect from 23 October 2025 (23 January 2026 for tank vehicles). The vehicle’s technical limits and overall maximum authorised mass must also be respected.
