You witness the photographed accident, are not involved and the casualty needs help; police and emergency services have not yet arrived. What should you do?

Correct answer

Helping or requesting help to attend to the victim.

Help or request help as far as you safely can. Follow Protect–Alert–Help: protect yourself and reduce the risk of another crash, call 112 and assist following their instructions. Do not drive on indifferently or remove the helmet before assessing the casualty. Helmet removal requires a specific need and appropriate technique; it is not an automatic first step. For uninvolved road users, the rule recognises cases where cooperation is clearly unnecessary or the authorities or their officers are already present.
