A stop is considered to be when the vehicle is immobilised for a period of less than 2 minutes without the driver being able to leave it. When the stop or parking must take place on urban roads on the carriageway or on the hard shoulder, the vehicle shall be positioned as close as possible to its right-hand edge, except on one-way carriageways, where it may also be positioned on the left-hand side.
