Correct answer
A child weighing up to 22 kg who can sit unaided.
Article 154.1 and 2, effective from 1 October 2026, allows children weighing up to 22 kg who can sit unaided to be carried in additional seats meeting the applicable technical specifications. The rider must be an adult, and carriage must not compromise stability or obscure lights or signals. Helmet rules and other applicable conditions must also be observed. The current criterion for this situation is not a general seven-year age limit. Until the order regulating these seats’ technical specifications enters into force, the seats must be type-approved under the second transitional provision of RD 518/2026.
