Leave at least 1.50 metres between the motorcycle and the most protruding parts of the overtaken vehicle, under Article 85.5 of the General Traffic Regulations. This is lateral clearance, not the longitudinal following distance. Do not assume any smaller clearance is allowed in built-up areas: the rules applicable to the overtaken vehicle and a safe margin still apply.
