Correct answer
Sufficiently in advance of starting the manoeuvre and while it is being carried out.
A lateral movement must always be signalled sufficiently in advance of starting the manoeuvre, by using the direction indicator lights corresponding to the side towards which the movement is going to be made, and they must remain on while the movement is being carried out. We may also hold the arm out horizontally with the palm of the hand extended downwards, if the movement is going to be towards the side the hand indicates, or bent upwards with the palm of the hand extended, if it is going to be towards the opposite side.
