Leave a margin so that you are not pressed against the vehicle ahead and can act safely for the circumstances. There is no general rule requiring exactly 5 or 6 metres whenever stopped at an urban traffic light. While moving, Article 54 requires a gap allowing you to stop without a collision if the vehicle ahead brakes suddenly, taking speed, grip and braking into account. Preventive advice should not be presented as a universal statutory minimum distance.
