When a vehicle over 3,500 kg, a bus or a combination parks on a significant slope, Article 92 additionally requires suitable wheel chocks or a steered road wheel supported against the kerb in the prescribed manner. In that case this is mandatory, not merely recommended. Do not use stones as chocks.
