At least 1.5 metres. Article 85.4 requires that clearance when overtaking pedestrians both inside and outside built-up areas, together with using part or all of the adjacent or opposing lane; with more than one lane each way, a complete lane change is required. Outside built-up areas, it also requires reducing speed by at least 20 km/h below the limit during the manoeuvre. Keeping the minimum does not guarantee a safe pass: wait if conditions do not permit it. Do not extend that list to every two-wheeled vehicle; Article 85.5 separately regulates a two-wheeled rider overtaking another vehicle.
