DDifficulty 1/5

You witness a collision with injured people and assistance has not yet been organised. How should you generally act?

Correct answer

not rush, stay calm and establish an order of priorities according to the situation.

Stay calm, assess safety and follow PAS: protect, call 112 and assist within your knowledge and the emergency service’s instructions. If stopping, do so safely without creating another hazard. Do not transport or extract injured people on your own initiative; immediate danger may call for a different action, assessed with emergency services. There is no indiscriminate requirement for every witness to remain: someone who only witnesses the collision need not stop when authorities are already present or their assistance is manifestly unnecessary.
