Check the ignition and fuel supply following diagnosis and the manufacturer’s manual. Faulty spark plugs can cause misfires and reduced fuel efficiency. This does not mean all high consumption has that sole cause or that exhaust, sensors, cooling, lubrication, tyres or other components never require checking. Spark ignition is not attributed to every engine type.
