BDifficulty 2/5

With other conditions unchanged, when do you need a larger safety gap ahead?

Correct answer

When the speed of vehicles increases.

Higher speed increases the distance travelled during reaction and generally braking distance. Leave enough space to stop without hitting the vehicle ahead if it brakes suddenly. Reduced grip requires a larger margin. A serious brake fault cannot be compensated for simply by leaving more space: stop safely and have it resolved before continuing.
