C1Difficulty 1/5

Which circumstance is an express exception to the general prohibition on overtaking at intersections and nearby, while observing the other safety conditions?

Correct answer

Overtaking must be on the right under Article 82.2.

Passing on the right as required by Article 82.2 is an exception: for example, passing a vehicle clearly signalling a left turn, with sufficient space and maximum care. Article 87.1.c also covers roundabouts, expressly signed priority and passing two-wheeled vehicles. An ordinary intersection is not exempt merely because it has one lane per direction, nor is priority without the required explicit sign sufficient. Tunnels are regulated separately.
