Correct answer
Apply direct pressure on the wound
Apply firm direct pressure to the wound, using gauze or clean material if available and protecting yourself from blood contact. For serious bleeding, call 112 and follow instructions. Life-threatening limb bleeding not controlled by direct pressure may require a suitable tourniquet according to available guidance and training. This answer does not address internal bleeding or require pressing on an embedded object.
