In Spain in 2026, a car registered in Spain is immobilised by a breakdown on the carriageway. Which prescribed device must be used to warn of danger?

Correct answer

A connected, certified V16 beacon.

A connected, certified V16 beacon. It replaces warning triangles in this case from 1 January 2026. Activate it and place it as high as possible on the vehicle with maximum visibility, without exposing yourself to traffic. Also use hazard lights if fitted and position lights when required; these do not replace the V16. Leave only if you can safely reach a place outside the traffic platform; otherwise stay inside with your seat belt fastened. The V16 does not call 112.
