AMDifficulty 1/5

On a conventional road outside a built-up area, when must a moped use only the indispensable part of the carriageway?

Correct answer

Yes, when there is no hard shoulder or the hard shoulder is insufficient or impassable.

When no usable and sufficient right shoulder exists. If one exists, it must use it under Article 36.1. It may not enter the carriageway to ride alongside another moped: current Article 36.2 prohibits parallel moped travel. This case concerns neither a motorway nor a dual carriageway, on which mopeds may not travel.
