The centre lane. Normally use the right lane; the centre lane is only for necessary overtaking and left turns. Never travel in the far-left lane. Do not begin overtaking if an opposing road user already occupies the centre lane to overtake. Check space, visibility, signs and a safe return, and obey limits. A broken line alone does not make overtaking safe or permitted.
